One of the primary reasons for this preference is the permanence of location versus the modifiability of a home’s structure. While a home can be renovated and improved, the surrounding neighborhood cannot be easily changed. Negative aspects of a neighborhood, such as proximity to noisy railroad tracks or industrial areas, are beyond a homeowner’s control and can detract from the property’s appeal and value.

Upgrading Homes vs. Changing Neighborhoods

Another key consideration is the relative ease of upgrading a home compared to relocating to a better neighborhood.
